Developing a low carbon Society under Collaboration between Bandung and Kawasaki (1) – Energy Savings (replacement of chillers, and lightings) / Biodigestere

Feasibility studies were conducted in Bandung Indonesia for two sectors. Energy and Waste.

This feasibility study was conducted in Bandung City to seek ways to reduce GHGs and conduct energy savings. Three types of technologies were considered: efficient water-cooled chillers as a replacement to conventional air-cooled chillers; LED lighting inside buildings as a replacement of conventional sodium and mercury bulbs; and LED lightings for street lightings. Monitoring equipment was installed into the building to gather data which was useful in understanding the trends and volume of electricity consumption that was in turn essential in offering proposals for energy savings.

This second feasibility study was implemented to seek ways to reduce GHGs and improve environmental and sanitary conditions, by collecting and processing biogas and liquid manure using methane fermentation treatment of organic waste. As such, the following five points are hoped to be resolved by the introduction of a biodigester with a daily processing capacity of 15 tons/day of which 12tons/day are food waste, and 3 tons/day are septic tank sludge.
